There are a few checks that we need to perform for you to have your lessons with us. These checks are required by law by your first lesson.
Driving Licence
As a minimum, you must hold a valid, provisional UK driving licence to begin driving lessons.
The DVLA requires driving instructors to have each pupil create a check code to ensure they meet the legal requirements for driving lessons. The check code will check your licence validity, any motoring penalties and disqualifications, and the vehicle types that you are allowed to drive. This needs to be completed before your 1st lesson.
To get a DVLA check code, get your national insurance number, driving licence and postcode, once the code is generated it is valid for 21 days.
We also welcome full UK licence holders who require ‘refresher’ driving lessons.
It is your responsibility to notify the DVLA of any health conditions that may affect your fitness to drive a car and hence the validity of your licence.
The only check we make is a simple eye test to ensure that you meet the driving test standard which is to read a vehicle licence plate in good daylight at a distance of 20 meters (highway code rule number 92)
